The ECI-2 has been approved for use in New York’s Tappan Zee bridge replacement; perhaps the highest profile bridge construction project in the United States. The new Tappan Zee bridge will be  a dual-span twin bridge built on the north side of the original Tappan Zee bridge, connecting to the existing highway approaches on both river banks. Construction began as scheduled during 2013, with completion targeted for 2017. The new bridge is intended to last at least 100 years.
